Our Story
In February 1980, several Black Faculty and Staff members expressed the need to develop a support network. W. Ed Wilker initiated a meeting to consider establishing mechanisms for support, fellowship, and sharing resources.
Later in 1980, Ron McFadden, chaired an ad-hoc steering committee that surveyed Black Faculty and Staff members to determine ideas and consider future direction.
During the formative years, between 1980 - 1984, Katheryn B. Davis, Maurice C. Daniels, Eddie Daniels Jr., and W. Ed Wilker convinced the group for meeting and activities.
In an organizational planning meeting on October 23, 1981, Larry E. Blount, Eddie Daniels Jr., and W. Ed Wilker made formal presentations that focused on the status of blacks at the University of Georgia and the need for the formation of a Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
